Olay Moisturizing Body Wash Review and a Giveaway

posted by Momo Fali on March 20, 2012

I use body wash instead of soap. There, I said it.

After 40 years of lathering up, I have finally realized that soap isn’t the best thing for my skin. Maybe it is for you, but not for me, especially during the winter months. Increased water intake and constant slathering with lotion just wasn’t enough to compete with the cold, dry Midwestern air I battle with from October to May.

Not long ago, I realized that while my arms, legs and hands were always very dry, my face wasn’t. I figured out that the difference was the amount of moisturizer in the products I was using to wash my skin and the fact that my face cleanser didn’t contain soap.

That’s when I had a soap epiphany.

If I could clean my face without soap and have soft hydrated skin, why couldn’t I do the same thing with my body? Guess what? I could. And I could actually make my arms and legs feel softer and more moisturized than my face.

When Olay® recently sent me their Ultra Moisture Body Wash with shea butter, I became a permanent body wash convert. Before I even tried the product I liked the subtle scent. I can’t stand overly sweet smelling soaps and lotions and this was like Mama Bear’s body wash, which is to say it smelled just right.

Olay has been making moisturizer since the 50’s and they’re still going strong. They know what they’re doing. When I saw a sticker on the bottle that said, “Over a jar of Olay moisturizers inside” I knew it was going to do a decent job of making my skin feel better. I just didn’t know how much better. It did a great job of cleaning my skin and after a few days of using it I didn’t even have to put on lotion after my shower! This is coming from the person who used to slather on oil before getting out of the shower and apply lotion and STILL had dry skin.

After 40 years of lathering up it’s great to know that I finally have my skin figured out. And I love that I’ve found a product that simplifies my routine. It’s so great!

I simplify my morning beauty routine by really keeping makeup very simple. I only wear blush and lip gloss on any given day, sometimes concealer if my skin needs it, and mascara only on special occasions!

I simplify my routine by only washing my face once or twice a week. Water only on the other days. And I never use a towel to dry myself when I get out of the shower, air dry for the natural moisure. Thanks.

Short hair. My hair is very curly and takes forever to dry when wet. Short hair and accepting that it will do what it wants allows me to air dry, fluff, and go. I sometimes miss doing something different for special occasions, but that’s way outnumbered by the everyday convenience.

I seek-out products that have multiple uses, like a lip product with spf/tint/gloss. I make sure everything has a place (where I can actually find it, lol). I do as many things as possible in the evening to simplify my morning beauty routine.

  • Liz

Simplify my routine in the morning, I thoroughly cleanse my face and apply moisterizing night cream in the evening. In the morning, I just spalsh my face to wake me up. The night cream is still on and it moisturizes my face the rest of the day until I do the thoroughly cleansing at night. I’m 43 and I hardly have any wrinkles.

  • Anne Weber-Falk

I keep my hair short. Wash and wear is the easiest and it always looks nice. I use only a wash cloth and water on my face. In the winter I will use a moisturizer but the rest of the year nothing.

  • Rhea

My routine may be too simple. I probably need to add a moisturizer because my skin is always way too dry.

I simplify my routine by organizing more. I lay out the clothes that I plan to wear. Print off to do lists.

I have a nice vanity area in my bathroom that I’m able to keep everything organized and ready for my morning routine. Showering at night helps saves time in my routine as well

Like many women here, I shower at night. I’ve also minimized my make-up over the years, which saves time. I care more now about skin care, instead of skin make-up. As a middle-ager, there is wisdom and grace is accepting the aging process! Olay products are great, and I’d love to win!

I haven’t used bar soap in ages. I think gels and washes are more moiturizing. I skip days of washing my hair since it would take out some of the color I spend time to permanently put on. I found Argon Oil has multiple benefits and use it as a serum on hair for shine and damage control and on my cuticles to soften. It has a wonderful sweet scent.
